Eastern & Volta Expedition

3 Days, 2 Nights Adventure | December – January 2023–2024

The end of the year is always a special time for exploration, and Theotrek closed the season with an exciting 3-day, 2-night Eastern & Volta Expedition that combined adventure, nature, and relaxation. The journey brought together 12 adults and 1 child, creating a vibrant group of explorers ready to discover some of Ghana’s most remarkable destinations.

From mountain hikes and waterfalls to river adventures and wildlife encounters, the expedition delivered a balanced mix of thrill and tranquility.

Comfortable Stay at Westview Resort

Throughout the expedition, the team lodged at Westview Resort, a peaceful and scenic location in the Volta Region. The resort provided the perfect base for resting after long days of exploration, allowing participants to recharge while enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings.

Adventure in the Highlands of Amedzofe

One of the first highlights of the trip was visiting the Amedzofe Canopy Walkway. Walking across the suspended bridges high above the forest floor gave participants an exhilarating perspective of the lush mountain environment.

The group also embarked on an energizing hike up Mount Gemi, one of Ghana’s highest peaks. The climb offered rewarding panoramic views and a refreshing mountain atmosphere.

To complete the highland adventure, the team explored the famous Wli Waterfalls, known as the tallest waterfall in West Africa. Some participants also had the opportunity to visit Ote Waterfalls, a quieter but equally beautiful natural attraction tucked away in the mountains.

River Adventures at Royal Senchi

The expedition continued to the beautiful The Royal Senchi Hotel and Resort, where participants enjoyed a relaxing yet adventurous experience along the Volta River.

Activities here included:

  • A tour of the resort and its scenic surroundings

  • A boat cruise on the Volta River

  • Kayaking, offering a closer interaction with the calm waters and river environment

These moments provided a refreshing contrast to the mountain hikes, giving the group time to unwind while still enjoying outdoor adventure.

Exploring the Eastern Region

The adventure continued with a cycling experience to Adomi Bridge, one of Ghana’s most iconic bridges spanning the Volta River. The ride combined exercise with beautiful scenery and gave participants a unique perspective of the area.

The group also stopped for sightseeing at BridgeView Resort, where they enjoyed stunning views of the bridge and the surrounding river landscape, an ideal spot for photos and relaxation.

Rock Climbing and Wildlife Experience

To wrap up the expedition, the team visited Shai Hills Resource Reserve. Here, participants experienced rock climbing, cave exploration, and wildlife sightings, including antelopes and other native species within the reserve.

The rugged terrain and natural beauty of Shai Hills made it the perfect final adventure before heading back home.
